Wow, what a week!  We have been on the move this week learning about making good behavior choices in the lunchroom and out on the playground.  The Crew was very attentive and were able to pick out what behaviors were good choices and which were not.

Today we worked with the letters that we have learned, and read a story that had our heart words in it.  We love to be able to read the stories out loud.  In Math we played a matching game with buttons.  We tried to find buttons with similarities or things that they have in common.

Today, before music, we learned the buzz chant.  Here at school we are learning what it means to be SAFE, KIND, COOPERATIVE, and RESPECTFUL.  Ms. Lowry was impressed with how quiet we were in the hallway while we waited for her to be ready.  She was even more impressed with how well we did with the buzz chant!  Ask The Crew to share it with you.  We will keep working on it, so be patient with us.  :)

Next week is Spirit Week because of Homecoming at the HS.  A note will come home tomorrow letting you know what the specific days are and how students can participate.

Tomorrow Mrs. Kopper is at a training with the rest of the Kindergarten Team and The Crew will have a guest teacher.

Enjoy your weekend and I will check in a

Well, here we are at day two.  We started our day with behavior lessons in the cafeteria.  The Crew set a fine example for all of the other Kindergarten classess and were able to pick out acceptable and unacceptable behavior in the lunch room!  It was a very proud moment for this teacher!

We worked on writing the letters p and o.  We also listened to several stories today including Plaidypus Lost.  It is a story about a stuffed platypus that grandma made out of an old plaid flannel shirt.  We liked the story because it was predictable and The Crew could be part of the story.

In math today we introduced the "counting jar" and talked about how to figure out how many items were in the jar.  We then hunted around the room to find the same amount of items to put on our nametag to show that we could count to that number.  After finding our items and checking in with Mrs. Kopper we got to investigate our math manipulatives.  Today we explored color tiles, attribute blocks, and buttons.  We did great working together!

Mathew was our star in Creative Arts today.  Mrs. Post says that we all did a great job and can't wait to see us again soon.

Today we are bringing home our "Decodable Reader" to practice our heart words.

Enjoy the evening and get plenty of rest, tomorrow a new and exciting adventure waits for you in C2!

Hello families!  This is my first attempt to "blog" about our day.  Please bear with me as I muddle through the process.  I will try to be as consise and informative as I can.

Some of you have expressed concern over the amount of paperwork coming home.  The handwriting sheets in particular were mentioned and I want to help ease your mind.  First, they are coming home as additional practice.  They are not due back to me.  It is something that you can use at home to support what we are doing in the classroom.

Today we learned the letter "O".  We learned that "O" is for otter, octopus, and outside.  During Reading Street we sang a new song called Purple Platypus.  The Crew loved it and wanted to sing it again and again.  We are learning more and more heart words as well.  This week we introduced two more words, the and little.  Remember, heart words are the words that we learn by heart.

Today held another first for The Crew.  We got our first taste of the Science Lab with Mrs. Fletcher.   The kids enjoyed learning what scientists do and drawing out their thoughts.  They also measured their feet and height.  We will keep this data and compare it to their end of the year data to show their growth.  Mrs. Fletcher will also be working with us to support our new science curriculum from Battle Creek.

Have a great night!  I hope this helps to spark conversations at home about what The Crew is doing here in school!  :)
